Another sour outing for Tigers' Jordan Zimmermann: 'I'm not going to quit'

Detroit Tigers fans realize Jordan Zimmermann is unlikely to be a front-line starter again in the big leagues.

But the organization is counting on him to eat innings while its prized pitching prospects — a group highlighted by last year’s No. 1 overall pick, Casey Mize — develop in the minors.

Zimmermann, who was signed to a five-year, $110 million contract by general manager Al Avila in 2015, said his performance needs to improve moving forward.

The veteran right-hander had another short outing Wednesday afternoon at Comerica Park.
