Anibal Sanchez to start for Tigers after 'throwing the ball OK' in Toledo

TOLEDO - Anibal Sanchez used his time at Triple-A Toledo preparing for another stint with the Detroit Tigers.

Apparently, the big-league club was satisfied with his development.

Sanchez, the former American League ERA champion, was promoted by the Tigers and will start tonight in Seattle.

After struggling in the bullpen -- Sanchez has a 9.00 ERA in the majors this season and has allowed nine home runs in 21 innings -- he went to Toledo to reestablish himself as a starter.

"We were trying to make a few changes and repeat a delivery that's going to be consistent on all his pitches," Mud Hens pitching coach Jeff Pico said before Sunday's 6-5 win over Durham.
