The Tigers played another sloppy game and went down quietly to the Los Angeles Angels by a score of 6-1 on Tuesday night. The debut of top catching prospect Jake Rogers was one of the few bright spots in the losing effort.
Drew VerHagen struggled, but was doing okay early on. He worked his way out of some trouble but also allowed Matt Theiss two-run shot in the second inning. The distinct tendency to get ahead of hitters and then struggle to put them away was in evidence, but he wasn’t hit particularly hard until giving up a couple of hits in the fifth inning that allowed another run to score.
