Baltimore — He was batting only .192 when the weekend began. He had two home runs.
Pedro Alvarez apparently needed only a dose of Tigers pitching to turn himself into a late-April replica of Barry Bonds.
For the second time in three games against the Tigers, the big left-handed slamming Alvarez hitter slammed two home runs, which was enough to push the Orioles to a 5-3 victory Sunday, and a series triumph, against their visitors from Detroit.
Alvarez had two bombs Friday night in the Orioles’ first-game toppling of the Tigers, then followed with a pair more Sunday against starter Daniel Norris, and later against reliever Joe Jimenez.
