LAKELAND, Fla. — Kyle Funkhouser sat by himself on Friday morning at the far end of the Detroit Tigers' clubhouse.
There were five empty lockers to his right.
Three to his left.
He became the last man sitting, so to speak, a lonely figure among a group of empty chairs.
After 10 Tigers prospects were sent down to the minor leagues on Thursday – and they cleaned out all of their lockers in the big league clubhouse – Funkhouser was the last one left at that end of the clubhouse.
“That’s a good thing,” said Dave Littlefield, Tigers vice president of player development.
