DETROIT -- Former Detroit Tigers outfielder Curtis Granderson, who has openly contemplated retirement as he's struggled through a subpar 2017 season, will get an unexpected chance to say goodbye to Comerica Park.
Granderson, 36, was acquired by the Los Angeles Dodgers late Friday night. The New York Mets received a player to be named later or cash considerations in return.
Granderson was drafted by the Tigers in 2002 and played parts of six seasons in Detroit, from 2004-2009.
The Dodgers have two more games against the Tigers this weekend. Granderson could arrive in time to face longtime teammate Justin Verlander in the series finale Sunday.
