DETROIT -- The 2003 Detroit Tigers will not lose their dubious record this season.
With their win on Wednesday night, the Baltimore Orioles improved to 44-108, ensuring that they will not break the record for most losses by an American League set by the Tigers 15 years ago.
That 2003 Tigers squad went 43-119, setting an AL record and falling just one loss short of the 1962 New York Mets for worst record in Major League history.
The 2018 Tigers are 61-91 with 10 games left in the season.
If the Tigers win two of their final 10 games, they will avoid the distinction of becoming the Tigers' first 100-loss team since 2003 and just the seventh in franchise history.
