New York — You don’t think Shane Greene is built to be a big-league closer?
Listen to him describe what it was like in the ninth inning Tuesday, as he got the final out with the tying and winning runs in scoring position in the Tigers 4-3 win over the Yankees.
“It was an adrenaline rush,” he said. “I love it, honestly. When the game is on the line, it’s almost like a borderline blackout and you just compete. That’s what I felt like.”
It was his first save opportunity since being named closer in the wake of Justin Wilson being traded to the Cubs.
