If my Facebook memories are to be trusted, it was roughly 2:44am Detroit time when a wild 14-inning showdown between the Detroit Tigers and the Seattle Mariners ended in the most epic fashion possible.
With a collision at home plate against Justin Smoak, and potentially the most dramatic show of “I still have it!” ever witnessed, catcher Brayan Pena endeared himself so completely to Tigers fans that he still remains one of the franchise’s most beloved back-up catchers in the last decade.
Pena, who spent 2018 spring training with the Tigers, is currently not playing for any of the minor league franchises, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him have a future coaching role within the Tigers organization.
