The Detroit Tigers had a bad weekend.
They should have won three of the four games against the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field. Instead, they lost three of four and are 2½ games behind division-leading Cleveland in the American League Central.
The Tigers saw their 4-0 lead erased by a five-run seventh inning on Friday night and they went on to lose, 5-4. A two-run home run by John Hicks and eight shutout innings should have propelled them to at least a split of the weekend series on Sunday. But Shane Greene gave up a two-run home run in the ninth and Buck Farmer gave up the winning run in a 3-2 loss in 11 innings.
