ORLANDO, Fla. -- Ron Gardenhire takes his place at the dais in the media room Wednesday morning at the Swan and Dolphin Resort near Walt Disney World.
The new Detroit Tigers manager is hardly making his debut. After 13 years as skipper of the Minnesota Twins, he's been through the media ringer a time or two.
But don't expect Gardenhire to offer any deep thoughts about the Tigers' roster. Gardenhire has held off on any deep evaluation -- or even calling players -- until after the Winter Meetings.
The reason? He's waiting to see what his team will look like after the Winter Meetings are over.
