DETROIT -- Good morning, Detroit.
There have a been a few changes while you were sleeping. The Detroit Tigers look very different than they did, oh, about 12 hours ago.
Future Hall-of-Famer Justin Verlander, synonymous with the Tigers for the last decade is gone. So is slugger Justin Upton, the team's most reliable -- and sometimes only reliable -- power threat in 2017.
What it means is that the Tigers' rebuilding plans, previously just a blueprint on paper, are now happening in earnest.
In a span of a few hours, the Tigers have sliced about $130 million in future payroll commitments off their books.
