145 players (including 4 Tigers) become free agents today

DETROIT -- Four Detroit Tigers were granted free agency today, the first day after the World Series and the start of the Major League offseason.

One of the four players -- designated hitter Victor Martinez -- is set to retire. The other three -- shortstop Jose Iglesias, catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia and left-handed pitcher Francisco Liriano -- are unlikely to return to Detroit in 2019.

The players listed below have achieved Article XX-B free agency, which essentially means they have reached six years of Major League service time and their contracts have expired.

More free agents will join the market, including players who are released or non-tendered.
