Here's a couple bits of Tigers news for you fans attempting to put Sunday's 3-1 home loss to the Balitimore Orioles, the Tigers' first defeat of the season, behind you.
After returning to the Detroit Tigers in mid-March on a minor league deal, reliever Wil Ledezma has been released according to Tigers officials. The Detroit Tigers brought Ledezma back in to take a peak at what he had left in him, reporting directly to the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens after re-signing just a few weeks ago.
Ledezma pitched with the Tigers for the first four-and-a-half years of his Major League Baseball career. From 2003-07, Ledezma posted a robust 5.15 ERA, giving up 313 hits in 283 innings. He has bounced around within six different organizations since then, before being finally re-signed and released by the Tigers.
In other news, Michigan Live writer James Schmehl is reporting that slugger Victor Martinez will return to behind the plate for a game this week.
Manager Brad Ausmas has confirmed this, stating "we just can’t have Victor’s bat on the bench for that long of a time."
The Tigers will have to go without a designated hitter this upcoming week, as travel to Los Angeles to play two games with the Dodgers, followed by playing a three-game series against the San Diego Padres down south.
