Tigers News: GM Dombrowski says health biggest issue for Tigers

In Tigers news tonight, Detroit Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski sees health as the biggest issue for the team, not the normal rumors about position battles and depth issues.

Per George Sipple of the Detroit Free Press, all Dombrowski wants is a healthy and happy Detroit Tigers ballclub, and contending will take care of itself: “I think we should be there,” Dombrowski stated in the article posted Monday. “When you get into the postseason, anything can happen.”

Dave Dombrowski spent an hour with Bernie Smilovitz at the MGM Grand Casino in Detroit tonight, answering questions. One question that popped up was whether or not he was concerned about the bullpen:

I think it’s going to be fine,” Dombrowski assured Smilovitz. “We have some guys in our minor leagues that can help us in our bullpen. If anything, it’s probably a strength for us, as far as dipping down. We’re a way from doing that. We’ve only played 10 games. We haven’t been in sync whatsoever. We’ve had a lot of off days.”

He also said that Detroit Tigers closer Joe Nathan is “still getting into rhythm,” clearly unworried about Nathan's early struggles.
