Above our the last 6 starts for tricky Ricky Porcello. In those starts he's averaged about 6 and 2/3 innings of work and 1.16 earned runs. He's lowered his ERA from the mid 6s all the way to 3.08. This is a pretty encouraging development for everyone's favorite bass fishing Detroit Tigers pitcher. A few short months ago many of us wondered whether 14-9 in 2009 was fools gold. I hate to once again get ahead of myself but I'm going to declare that this is the real Rick, rather than his 10-12 with a 4.92 ERA 2010.
It's very easy to forget that Rick is 22 years old and his 28 career wins are far and away the highest total for any pitcher 22 or under. He's very close to the top of the list for players 23 or younger as well. And if at age 24, he wants to hang up his cleats in favor of compact and hair gel, he does a pretty great blue steel...or is that le tigre?
