The Detroit Tigers could conceivably have a starting rotation without both Max Scherzer and David Price in 2015 if the St. Louis Cardinals have anything to say about it.
Per George Sipple of the Detroit Free Press, "the St. Louis Cardinals are exploring trades for Price and Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels, according to Ken Rosenthal and Jon Morosi of Fox Sports. They also reported that the Cardinals are interested in possibly signing Scherzer, a free agent who turned down a six-year, $144-million offer from the Tigers last year."
Between his time with the Tampa Bay Rays and Detroit Tigers in 2014, Price led Major League Baseball in strikeouts (271). He posted a 3.59 ERA for Detroit in 11 starts.
The 29-year-old made $14 million in 2014 and will receive a major raise in arbitration before the 2015 campaign. Regardless of where he pitches this coming season, he's poised to be the marquee free-agent pitcher on the market come 2016.
