The Detroit Red Wings could make history for all the wrong reasons.
They are 0-4-2 out of the gate, their longest winless streak to start the season since 1985-86 (0-8-1, W-L-T). The franchise record for longest winless streak at the start of a season is 10 games in 1975-76 (0-7-3, W-L-T) and is within reach.
Nobody expected Jeff Blashill and the coaching staff to work miracles with this roster, especially following injuries to Mike Green, Trevor Daley, Jonathan Ericsson and Danny DeKeyser decimated the defense.
Few expected this team, essentially the second season into a multi-year rebuild, to reach the playoffs.
