Detroit -- He took one step last season, and now Tomas Tatar wants to take another in what appears could be a promising NHL career.
Tatar led the Red Wings last season with 29 goals, and while playing all 82 games, he had 27 assists for 56 points — third on the team behind Henrik Zetterberg (66 points) and Pavel Datsyuk (65).
But Tatar, 24, felt he could have done even more.
As a young player still learning the NHL, Tatar knows where he wants, and can, improve upon.
“You want to get better, you know never how the season will go, but I’m just going to try to be a little more consistent this season,” said Tatar, who tied with Datsyuk to lead the Red Wings with three playoff goals in their first-round loss to Tampa Bay.
