Detroit — The Red Wings played a far better defensive game against the Sabres than Saturday against the Penguins, but still had to dodge a late onslaught to win, 3-2.
The Wings got goals from Dylan Larkin (22), Riley Sheahan (12) on a gorgeous solo effort the length of the ice and Luke Glendening (8) into an empty net.
BOX SCORE: Red Wings 3, Sabres 2
But they yielded the first goal against with 2:50 left third, when Zemgus Girgensons scored immediately off the faceoff after Glendening’s goal.
