The Detroit Red Wings turned out to be Brad Richards’ last stop in the NHL.
Richards, 36, announced his retirement today with a release through the NHLPA. He played 15 seasons, the last of it this past season in Detroit. Signed to boost offense and experience from his two Stanley Cup championships, Richards produced just 10 goals and 28 points in 68 games with the Wings.
He came to Detroit on the heels of helping the Chicago Blackhawks to the 2015 Stanley Cup. Richards began his career with the Tampa Bay Lightning, and was crowned the Conn Smythe winner in 2004 after leading the Lightning to the Cup with 26 points in 23 games.
