ANAHEIM, Calif. - Jakub Kindl's inability to gain a foothold has prompted the Detroit Red Wings to expose him.
Kindl was put on waivers today, the result of defenseman Kyle Quincey being ready to return from surgery. The decision reflects well on rookie defenseman Alexey Marchenko, who could have been sent to the minors without waivers but who has demonstrated he belongs in the NHL.
It does not reflect well on Kindl, who has been unable to convince either current coach Jeff Blashill or former coach Mike Babcock that Kindl should be a regular in the lineup.
