Wings’ Mantha a healthy scratch again vs. Rangers

Detroit — Anthony Mantha was again watching Sunday and not playing against the New York Rangers.

Mantha was a healthy scratch for a second consecutive game, as coach Jeff Blashill opted to keep the same lineup that defeated the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night.

Blashill scratched Mantha for not consistently working or playing hard enough in the previous few games.

Mantha — tied for second on the Red Wings with 14 goals (33 points in 50 games) — alternated with Drew Miller during Saturday’s practice on the fourth line, and the expectation by many was Mantha would return against the Rangers.
