— Forward Dylan Larkin has been named an alternate captain for Team USA at the world championships.
Larkin, a Waterford native and former Michigan standout who finished his second season with the Red Wings, has played 31 games in a Team USA uniform — he was on the bronze medal-winning world championship roster last year, and was part of the gold medal-winning 2014 junior team.
Arizona Coyotes defenseman Connor Murphy is the captain for the world championship team, while Larkin and New York Islanders forward Brock Nelson are alternate captains.
Team USA will be coached by the Red Wings’ Jeff Blashill.
