Newark — The Red Wings played one of their best games in November and showed considerable fortitude through misfortune, including an injury to Jimmy Howard, to beat the New Jersey Devils 5-4 in overtime Friday night.
Mike Green scored the winner at 3:18 of overtime.
It was a see-saw affair, throughout, but the Wings showed considerably more offensive punch than they have since winning six straight from October 17-27.
They outshot the Devils 30-19 in regulation.
Adam Henrique tipped a shot at the crease from the former Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey, to tie the score at 14:49 of the third period.
