NEWARK, N.J. – With an assist in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Sabres in Buffalo, Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brendan Smith has seven points in his past eight games.
Smith said Sunday after the Wings practiced at the Prudential Center in preparation for tonight's matchup that he doesn't think his game has changed much since his recent offensive surge.
"I think I've gradually continued to get better defensively, making good reads," Smith said. "All of a sudden, they're going in. That's always a great feeling and it's good for the team, but like I said before, a month ago they weren't going in.
