The Detroit Red Wings called up forward Eric Tangradi and defenseman Nick Jensen Sunday, after assigning just-waived Joakim Andersson to the minors. Andersson was waived Friday and cleared Saturday, a move made so the Wings could have maneuverability if needed.
They may not need it, but they wanted the insurance as they head into Monday's game at the New York Islanders.
"We are bringing in the extra bodies in case players can't play," general manager Ken Holland told the Free Press Sunday afternoon. The Wings didn't practice, which is common after back-to-back games, but an unidentified forward and defenseman are questionable.
