Wings' 4-game win streak snapped in loss to Kings

Los Angeles — Interesting how when Drew Miller isn’t around, the Red Wings’ penalty kill goes haywire.

The Red Wings lost a game because of it Monday, allowing two Los Angeles power- play goals leading to a 4-2 Kings' victory.

Miller, arguably the Red Wings’ best penalty killer, went on the injured list with a torn meniscus Monday. The Red Wings’ penalty kill slipped when he missed a month because of a broken jaw in December, and didn’t do well without him Monday.

BOX SCORE: Kings 4, Red Wings 2

Alec Martinez (Rochester Hills) broke a 2-2 tie with the Kings’ second power-play goal of the game, blasting a one-timer from the top of the circle that beat goalie Jimmy Howard at 1:28 of the third period, his fifth goal.
