The Detroit Red Wings finally passed the three-quarters mark of the 2019-20 NHL season Friday, and they did it in a way all too familiar to anyone watching this season: They lost, 4-1 to the New York Islanders. That loss officially eliminated the Wings from playoff contention, making them the first team whose playoff chances ended before the trade deadline since the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2003-04.
