VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Ethan Phillips comes to the Detroit Red Wings already well ensconced with one of their top prospects.
Phillips was one of the better stories of the later rounds of 2019’s NHL draft. The Wings chose him at 97th overall, seeing potential in how fast the 5-foot-9 forward can execute on the ice.
“He’s undersized, but he’s a very fast skater,” chief amateur scout Tyler Wright said.
