Filip Zadina looked at his phone and saw Steve Yzerman’s number.
That wasn’t a good feeling.
He felt better when he hung up.
In what was described as a roster management move, the Detroit Red Wings recalled Zadina and Dylan McIlrath on Thursday morning, less than 24 hours after assigning them to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
The Wings landed in Detroit around noon Wednesday, stranded in Winnipeg after Tuesday’s game because of a mechanical issue with their airplane.
