We Haven’t Seen This In 33 Years

from Will Burchfield of 97.1,

Five Red Wings will play in their first NHL game in the season-opener Thursday night versus the Blue Jackets, the most from any team since, yep, those 85-86 Wings took the ice at Joe Louis Arena nearly 33 years ago to the day.

Debuting Thursday night for Detroit are forwards Michael Rasmussen and Christoffer Ehn and defensemen Dennis Cholowski, Libor Sulak and Filip Hronek....

In all, the Red Wings will have six rookies in the lineup Thursday night including Hicketts, and 10 players under the age of 25.
