The standings are an eyesore and the team statistics are ugly across the board for the Detroit Red Wings 30 games into the season.
They are the worst team in the NHL by virtually every measure, starting with the primary indicator – their league-low 17 points.
It’s a number they’ve been stuck on for some time, due to eight consecutive regulation losses -- 10 games without a win overall (0-8-2).
Coach Jeff Blashill, however, put a positive spin on much of this recent stretch.
“From the coaching staff perspective, I don’t have to walk around here and be mad at everybody and be dark and gloomy,” Blashill said.
