U.S. whipped by Sweden in World semis, will play for bronze

The United States' hopes for a gold medal at the World Championship were dashed Saturday with a 6-0 loss to Sweden in the semifinals in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The U.S. will play Canada for the bronze medal on Sunday (9:45 a.m., NHL Network). Switzerland stunned Canada 3-2 in the other semifinal and will face Sweden in Sunday's gold medal game (2:15 p.m., NHL Network).

Anders Nilsson made 42 saves for Sweden, which got two goals from Viktor Arvidsson and three assists from Mikael Backlund. Gustav Nyquist of the Detroit Red Wings had no points , one shot on goal and an even plus-minus rating in 12:42 of ice time.
