U.S. stays unbeaten at Worlds, tops Latvia in OT

Cam Atkinson of the Columbus Blue Jackets scored a power-play goal at 1:23 of overtime Thursday to lift the United States to a 3-2 victory over Latvia at the World Championship in Herning, Denmark.

The U.S. improved to 2-2-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) in Group B, good for 10 points and first place, one point ahead of Finland, with three games remaining in pool play.

Detroit Red Wings forward Dylan Larkin picked up an assist.

Chris Kreider opened the scoring at 11:39 of the first period.

Goals by Uvis Balinskis (17:52 of the first period) and Andris Dzerins (3:20 of the second) gave Latvia a 2-1 lead.
