Detroit — If this truly is it for legendary Michigan hockey coach Red Berenson, than he deserves to go out a winner.
There has been increasing speculation that Berenson, 76, will finally call it a career with the Wolverines after this NCAA Tournament run, which begins Friday for UM, when it plays Notre Dame.
That matchup, incidentally, in the Red Wings’ locker room, pits Luke Glendening and Dylan Larkin (Michigan) against Riley Sheahan in terms of bragging rights.
But for Glendening, seeing Berenson go out successful, trumps all.
“You want to win for that guy, whether it’s his last year or not,” said Glendening, who played for Berenson from 2009-12.
