SAINT PAUL, Minn. — The Detroit Red Wings feasted, on a hat trick, multi-point performances, and an octopus.
They took their frustration of having played well but not seeing results out on the Minnesota Wild on Saturday at Xcel Energy Center with a 5-2 win, banging in goals from the opening shift.
Tyler Bertuzzi earned the first hat trick of his NHL career, in the same building in which his uncle, Todd Bertuzzi, played in his 1000th NHL game in February of 2011. Two of Bertuzzi’s goals were deflections.
Thomas Vanek demonstrated his ability to dazzle with the puck during a second period that saw the Wings outshoot the Wild, 21-2.
