The Toronto Maple Leafs, desperate to shore up before the playoffs, are looking to a former Detroit Red Wings goaltender for help — and ditching another one.
Sunday afternoon's waivers revealed the Leafs had placed Petr Mrazek on the list, a move that either means they lose him to another team, or he can be assigned to the minors. Instead, the Leafs signed Harri Säteri, who was in the Wings organization for one season.
Säteri just won gold with Finland at the 2022 Olympics, which added shine to his resume. The 32-year-old was signed by the Wings in 2018-19, but he didn't perform particularly well in the minors and never played in a Wings game.
