When the Wings selected Cholowski in the first round, 20th overall, in 2016, he was billed as a mobile puck mover with high-end offensive skills who modeled his game after Scott Niedermayer.
Four years later, the Wings are still waiting to find out what they have in Cholowski. The 6-foot-2, 197-pound Canadian has appeared in 88 games over two seasons, demoted to finish in the minors both years.
