Training camp and six preseason games have given Detroit Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill a good idea of which young defensemen should be on the opening night roster.
The final test comes Friday at Toronto (7 p.m.), when Dennis Cholowski, Joe Hicketts, Filip Hronek and Libor Sulak will be in the lineup.
“You’d like as many games and as much information as possible before making final decisions,” Blashill said Thursday. “So, we’re going to use the next two games to a large degree to continue to evaluate. I would put (Friday’s) game at a bigger scale.
