The Red Wings have re-signed forward Teemu Pulkkinen to a one-year contract for $812,500.
A restricted free agent, Pulkkinen will not be available until at least mid-October – possibly as late as December – because of offseason shoulder surgery. The Wings said his rehab was expected to last 4-6 months.
Limited to only 36 games last season because of the shoulder injury, Pulkkinen, 24, scored six goals and had six assists for 12 points.
Pulkkinen has yet to find a permanent role in the NHL but he’s dominated in the American League with Grand Rapids. Pulkkinen has 65 goals in 117 games with the Griffins.
