Detroit Red Wings’ development camp was heavy on education and light on practice, but as one prospect noted, whatever the players were doing, Steve Yzerman was watching.
The Wings' future was on display for five days, with players going through skill drills and learning what it takes to be a successful pro. It all culminated Saturday at Little Caesars Arena with a scrimmage that pitted picks from the past two drafts and a smattering of free-agent signings and tryouts against each other as Yzerman, Wings coach Jeff Blashill and a dozen or so Wings hockey operations personnel watched from a mid-level suite.
