SUNRISE, Fla. — The Detroit Red Wings' defense is starting to contribute more offensively, but that should not distract the organization from putting the team's future ahead of 2017-18 results.
The Wings don’t receive much production from their back end and most of it comes from their most valuable trade commodity, with Mike Green contributing 26 of the 74 points (35 percent) Wings defensemen had contributed after 50 games (for comparison, top-ranked Tampa Bay had 115 points in 51 games from its defensemen).
