VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Steve Ott watched his teammates become his ex-teammates during the Detroit Red Wings' 3-2 overtime victory Tuesday over the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena.
Ott was traded to the Montreal Canadiens for a sixth-round pick in 2018 during the game. The timing was odd, but the abrasive forward saw it coming when he was scratched from the lineup a day before Wednesday's 3 p.m. trade deadline.
"I thought I had been playing pretty good and probably didn't deserve to be a healthy scratch; that kind of gave it away that something was up," Ott said.
