Detroit — Another day, another Pavel Datsyuk rumor.
Russia’s Sport-Express publication reported Wednesday Gennady Timchenko, president of SKA St.Petersburg, said the team has begun negotiations for a contract with Datsyuk.
Timchenko is quoted as saying St. Peterburg has “a good chance to sign (Datsyuk).”
Datsyuk stated near the end of the Red Wings’ season, and after their playoff exit, he is leaning toward returning to Russia and foregoing the final year in his three-year, $22.5 million contract with the Red Wings.
There was a report last week, quickly refuted by Datsyuk’s agent Dan Milstein, that Datsyuk had already agreed to a two-year contract with SKA.
