DENVER - After two years of trying to move Jakub Kindl, the Detroit Red Wings finally found a taker.
The Wings unloaded Kindl to Atlantic Division Florida Panthers for a sixth round pick in 2017. The Wings have to retain 15% of Kindl's salary, but the key for them is they gain $2 million in salary cap space for next season.
"Most significantly, it opens up cap space for us going into the off-season," general manager Ken Holland told the Free Press Saturday afternoon. "It's a good day for Florida, and it's a good day for Detroit because we created cap space.
