Red Wings top Stars in OT thriller

The Detroit Red Wings won their third straight game by topping the Dallas Stars 3-2 in an overtime thriller. Jimmy Howard was awarded with his first win since December 3rd. Petr Mrazek did not start and is listed as day-to-day with a groin injury.

Andreas Athanasiou started the scoring in the 2nd period after putting back a rebound chance over the outstretched leg of Dallas Stars goalie Antti Niemi. Colton Sceviour tied the game a few minutes later after the puck bounced off his skate and into the back of the net. Athanasiou potted another goal in which he deked Johhny Oduya with a bit of nifty stick-handling and then roofed a backhand shot past Niemi.
