The Detroit Red Wings have agreed to terms with right wing Thomas Vanek on a one-year deal worth $3 million and goaltender Jonathan Bernier on a three-year pact at $3 million per season.
The signings will be announced after noon, when the free agency period begins.
Vanek, 34, tallied 5 goals and 23 assists in 48 games with the Red Wings in 2016-17. He was traded to Florida at the deadline for a third-round pick. They would look to do the same this season if they're out of the playoff chase.
Vanek appeared in 80 games last season between Vancouver and Columbus and collected 24 goals and 32 assists.
