Red Wings tie score at the horn, fall in OT

Calgary, Alberta — They keep battling, give the Red Wings credit.

Tomas Tatar tied the score with 1.8 seconds left in regulation time, but they couldn’t earn the second point as Mikael Backlund scored in overtime giving Calgary a 3-2 victory Friday night.

Backlund went in on a 2-on-1 rush and beat goalie Petr Mrazek from the dot, after Mrazek was outstanding to get the Red Wings into overtime.

In regulation, the Red Wings won the faceoff then controlled play until Henrik Zetterberg got the puck near the dot to Tatar near, who beat goalie Brian Elliott just over the shoulder with barely any ticks left on the clock.
