Red Wings survive Sabres surge, win 3-2

Detroit – The Red Wings played a far better defensive game against the Sabres than Saturday against the Penguins, but still had to dodge a late onslaught to win, 3-2.

The Wings got goals from Dylan Larkin (22), Riley Sheahan (12) on a gorgeous solo effort the length of the ice and Luke Glendening (8) into an empty net.

But they yielded the first goal against with 2:50 left in the third, when Zemgus Girgensons scored immediately off the faceoff after Glendening’s goal.

Then with 1:49 left, as the Wings defense scrambled for the first time , Sam Reinhart.
